Victoire Macon Dauxerre, who is French 18 – year – old high school student, has a quite interesting confession. Namely, during the period she prepared her exams, she decided to make a small break and go shopping with her mother.
That day was actually the turning point in her life, even though she was completely unaware of that.
While they were shopping, the girl was noticed by one representative of some famous model agency, which is the dream of almost every teenager, especially if it is a girl.

She decided to join the Elite modeling agency, because she fell for the whole glamour and shine surrounding the modeling world, although she intended to study at Sciences Pro, an eminent University in Paris.
But, as soon as she entered in the modeling world, her life was substantially altered. The young girl found herself actually in the trap of this charmed circle, where thin bodies own the pedestal. She admitted: “Nobody told me I had to lose weight. But I was told: in September, you’ll be doing the Fashion Weeks, the clothes are size 32-34, and you’ll have to fit in them.”
So, in order to reach the goal that she had, she started starving herself and lost 22 pounds in only two months. She was eating 3 apples and drank sparkling water during the whole day. Once in the week, she was allowed to eat a piece of chicken or fish.
The regime actually gave her the effects she wanted, so she was 103 pounds, and is 5’10”.
Because of this, she successfully entered and participated in the back – to – back haute couture shows in fashion centers in the world like Paris, Milan, New York, and she also worked for the most popular prestigious brands, such as Alexander McQueen and MiuMiu. In only a short period, she was among the top 20 demanded models.

But, this is only one side of her entire story. On the other hand, she became anorexic, she had weakened pulse, her period stopped, she suffered from osteoporosis and her hair started falling. What’s more, she often fainted between fashion shows.
Vicotire also revealed another dark aspect of the modeling world. She also stated that her photos were manipulates: “They added weight to my thighs and cheeks.The girls working there today will probably say I’m lying. They can’t say anything if they want to continue.”
She also admitted that during interviews, models used to snack something in order to be seen by the journalists, but as soon as the cameras were turned off, they went to the toilet to vomit it.
As the time passed, she started feeling very unhappy, lonely and depressed. She was completely lost in that world. She became bulimic, and after 8 months of doing this job, she tried to kill herself. She said: “Nobody understood. Everybody was telling me, ‘You have a dream life,’ but I’d never been so miserable.”
Because of all these consequences, she decided to quit her job. Nowadays, Victorie has 23 years and she told her story in the book she wrote, entitled “Never Skinny Enough. Diary of a Top Model”, recently published.

In the book Victorie speaks about the pressure to be thin models are subjected to and she also explains the dehumanizing attitude of designers who regard models as coat hangers. She says: “Karl Lagerfeld says, ‘a Chanel suit doesn’t fit a woman with breasts.’ But women have breasts by definition. Why doesn’t he just make a suit that fits women?!?”
This experience of the girl had a goal, and she accomplished it. After she told her story, the court in France issued a law that does not allow too skinny models to work.
The brave young girl advises the models not to work when someone forces them to lose weight. She eventually survived this torture and she has also successfully recovered from the consequences. Today, she wears a US size 6 and aims to return to the stage again, but in the theatre.
Not every girl is brave enough to speak about the hell she passes through, or it is sometimes not aware of.
