The robbery incident took place at Otu-Jermi, headquarters of Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State.

According to Dennis, who narrated the experience to KayNaija's reporters, two armed men had snatched his motorcycle from him at gunpoint. He said:

“I took these two men, not far older than me, from Ubogo Junction in the morning of Wednesday May 21. We were heading to an agreed destination when they asked me to stop at the Jeremi Stadium. There, one of them pulled a seeming locally fabricated pistol. Pointing it at me, they asked me to come down from the bike after taking my money, over N2500 in my pockets.

“I did yield to their threat, but I jabbed the one holding the gun as they tried to make away with my bike. He fell, losing hold of the gun in the process. This happened at the Agbowhiame Road right in from of the Jeremi FM Radio Complex. The JFM gateman was watching the unfolding drama, with his big Alsatian dog barking. I called on the gateman to assist in fighting the robbers, but the sight of the gun discouraged him.”

Dennis further narrated that the robber who tried to escape with his bike was forced to return when he noticed that he (Dennis) had held his partner in crime to a fierce combat.

“With two against one, they overpowered me and zoomed off with my bike after one of them had hit me hard on my head with the gun three times, leaving me bleeding seriously from three cuts on the head.

“Luckily, a fellow Okada rider came along. I explained to him and we chased after them. At Agbowhiame, we were told they headed towards Erhuwaren. We followed that through Kiagbodor to Oviri Olomu where we sighted them on the Oviri-Ewu Road. The community vigilante communicated their Ewu counterparts, but they diverted towards Okparabe and we pursued without their knowledge.”
However, the robbers on sighting the community's vigilante on their trail had to reverse by Okparabe community but the chasers had double-crossed them, waiting to apprehend the criminals in what was a road show.

“We were already on that road, so they were now riding towards us. I had disguised with the cap belonging to my Okada colleague. So the robbers had no idea I was the one they had robbed and now chasing them.

“As they approached, I disembarked from the bike and started moving quietly towards them on their right of way. With a machete I borrowed from a local farmer, I cut the one riding my bike on one arm. They both fell from the bike and we and the locals descended on them.”
The incident was later confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, who also gave the names of the apprehended robbers as Paul Ogilo and Victor Philip. The Delta PPRO, however, described the gun carried by the robbers as a “pistol like”, while adding that the victim’s bike as unregistered.

The victim, however, had this to say:

“What they pointed at me when they took my bike was a shot gun. And they meant to shoot me. My luck was the gun malfunctioned. I would have been dead.”

“When Police arrived the scene the robbers had been badly injured, the motorbike recovered and suspects confessed to the crime and others. Preliminary investigation is on,” DSP Kalu added.
The police had retained the suspects and the victim's bike in the Divisional Police Headquarter. Dennis, who spoke to KayNaija.Com at his place of residence, Onigbo, is still on his way to full recovery from his battered head that has been stitched. His final words to us was an appeal to the police to release his bike to him so that he can resume his 'okada' job that sustains him.

“I just acquired the bike. I have valid proof of ownership and I appeal they release the bike to me to enable me continue with my okada work which is what sustains me,” he stated.

Heart breaking story of how Doctors Medical Error Led to Dora Akunyili’s death! [PHOTO]

When Mrs Dora Nkem Akunyili was the Zonal Secretary (South-east) of the Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund in 1998, Nigerian doctors gave her what many of her family members considered to be a health scare. They said she had a growth and needed surgery.
Akunyili, then 44, decided to travel to the United States, first to get a second opinion and then undergo the prescribed surgery. The bill for the medical trip was $17,000, including $12,000 for the surgery.
During pre-surgery check-up in the US, the doctors told her the Nigerian doctors had made a wrong diagnosis and that she did not need any surgery. It was said to be a minor issue that medication would solve.
She thanked the doctors and, to their surprise, said she was going to return the money meant for the surgery to PTF. That was strange. Nigerian government officials had devised a way of making sure such monies were not returned to the treasury.
The hospital informed the PTF, under the leadership of Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, about one honest Nigerian they had found. Buhari, himself a straightforward person, was very impressed. He wrote a letter to Akunyili commending her honesty.NAFDAC
Then came 2001. President Olusegun Obasanjo wanted to appoint a director-general for the National Agency for Drug and Food Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and asked for the recommendation of an honest Nigerian pharmacist. Akunyili’s name promptly came up. Someone who had heard about her PTF record recommended her.
There was a little problem, a Nigerian problem. Objections were raised that the minister of health, Prof. ABC Nwosu, was an Igbo from Anambra State and NAFDAC, being a powerful agency under the ministry, should not be headed by another Igbo from Anambra.
It was also argued that the market for fake and substandard products were controlled by the Igbo, with Onitsha – also in Anambra State – a major centre for the illicit business. She was going to protect “her people”, the antagonists said.
Obasanjo, stubborn to the cause, ignored the observations and appointed her. She went on to do a credible job and ended up as one of the most outstanding public officers in Nigeria’s history, celebrated locally and globally. She had lost a sister to fake drugs, and that was perhaps the impetus she needed to go on the offensive.Misdiagnosis
Meanwhile, Akunyili always went abroad for check-ups and she was always given an all-clear. She continued to look robust and energetic, and took up another government job as minister of information and communications. But on July 13, 2013, something strange happened to her. She was preparing to travel to the United States to receive an award. The following day was her birthday. Her 59th, precisely. Then she fell ill. She was physically weak and having pains. She decided to go ahead with her trip and attend to her health in the United States.
It was while she was there that new checks were carried out. Alas, she had cancer. The original diagnosis in 1998 was right. But the diagnosis at the point of surgery was wrong.
She became seriously ill and there were fears she could lose her life. She was in the hospital for months and only returned to Nigeria this year when the doctors said she was improving.
Her last public appearance was at the National Conference in Abuja, where she was a delegate. Pictures of a frail-looking Akumyili soon went viral on the internet.
TheCable could not ascertain the type of cancer, but there are several reports pinpointing cervical – and some claim it was ovarian. Globally, cervical cancer is the second most common and the fifth deadliest cancer in women, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Akunyili died on June 7, 2014 in India after surviving many death rumours.

INCREDIBLE!! How A 13 yr Old Girl Climbed the Tallest Mountain in the world, Mountain Everest! [PHOTO]

The 13-year-old daughter of poor Indian farmers who became the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest said Wednesday that she "shed joyful tears" at the summit after a grueling climb across difficult terrain and personal fear.

Nepal requires climbers to be at least 16 years old to scale its peaks, but Malavath Poorna said she and a team of Nepalese guides climbed the 29,035-foot mountain on May 25 from the northern side in Tibet. There are no age restrictions in China.

"It was very difficult. Every step is a dangerous step," a smiling Poorna told reporters in New Delhi, describing steep slopes, exposed rocks, deep crevasses and extreme cold that went below minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

At 10,830 feet, she said she saw "six dead bodies. I was shocked. Oh my god I got some fear."

But she remembered her training and regained her confidence.

"When I reached the top of Everest, very good experience. I feel great and proud, and I shed joyful tears" as she looked around and saw "mighty mountains and morning sunlight," she said in English, waving her hands expressively as she spoke.

The climb was verified by the China Tibet Mountaineering Association in Lhasa, making Malavath the youngest girl to climb Everest. American Jordan Romero, from Big Bear, California, became the youngest boy at age 13 to reach the summit -- also from the Tibetan side -- in 2010.

Malavath said her parents, impoverished farmers from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, encouraged her during eight months of training despite the fact that she had never before been on a mountain. Her family are dalits, once known as "untouchables," at the bottom of India's ancient caste system.

The expedition was sponsored by the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institution Society as part of its program to encourage and help underprivileged students in India.

He, therefore, called on Nigerians to embrace compassion and show love to each other.

Dukwe said, “There is a street in London; it is called Edgerton Crescent. Edgerton Crescent is the most expensive street in the world. Houses there are worth £3m to £4m.

“British celebrities that have money don’t buy houses on that street. They will tell you it is too expensive. But 70 per cent of the houses there are owned by Nigerians.

“The thing that is missing in Nigeria is compassion. We want to use compassion as a value and drive it through people so that people can help each other in the society. Our aim is to make compassion a core value in the society.”

He noted that the ‘Kill the Killers Initiative’ was established to attack the major diseases that cut short the lives of people in Nigeria and across Africa.

According to him, diabetes and high blood pressure form over 60 per cent of the cause of deaths among adults in Nigeria, just as malaria forms 70 per cent of the deaths among children in the country.

“In Nigeria and across Africa, we have failed immeasurably by paying little or no attention to principal diseases that cut the lives of our people short and thus leaving our life expectancy to numbers way below all the advanced nations,” he said.

I was going to donate some money to him when my friend held me back and turned to the young man asking, "Why are you begging?" the man replied, "because I have one arm."

After series of questions and not a tangible answer from the beggar, my friend then told him to go home and think of what he could do with one arm to earn himself some little income no matter how meager as that would be better than begging for arms but the man insisted there's nothing he could possibly do to make an income.

But that isn't the case here. The article you're about to read is that of an inspiring 37 years old American woman - Barbie Thomas, who lost her both arms to a terrible electrical accident as a toddler yet, never gave up on pursuing her dream of being a body builder.
This exciting lady says she can do everything a complete human can do only that she uses her feet.

She said,

"I can do every other thing like brushing my teeth, making dinner, texting, shopping, taking milk out of the fridge, putting on makeup and even driving. I'd say to anyone, you can do whatever you put your mind to. The only limitations are the ones you put on yourself.
