What Happens After Breast Augmentation

The breast augmentation procedure can take place in a hospital outpatient facility or in a surgical center. The entire procedure requires almost 2 hours but you are always advised to go home once it’s done.
Only selective cases require local anesthesia, whereas majorly the procedure takes place through general anesthesia. If you consult a good surgeon for breast augmentation, you are normally briefed through the procedure. You are also inquired about the surgery reasons and your awareness of breast implant. There are things you need to be prepared for in advance, if however by now you are still exploring-here’s a brief description for what to expect from breast augmentation;

How does Breast Augmentation Takes Place?

As already explained, you will be discussed with for the incision and breast size choices. The overview of incision is:

Your surgeon will choose (along with your consent) the point for incision. It will be

Incision under the crease of breast (inframammary)
Under the arm area (axillary)
Around the nipple area (periareolar)
Once the incision is done, the next step involves separating the muscle and breast tissues and the connective tissues of the chest. A pocket is formed in front of the outermost muscle of the chest wall. The breast implant is thus inserted into the pocket, right behind the nipple.

Implants are of two types and you can choose which breast implant to be inserted. Silicone implants are pre-filled with a gel while Saline implants get inserted first and are filled afterwards. The choice of implant depends on your current breast size and affordability as well.
